"But At What Cost?"
My fellow Philadelphians/Americans,
I am no supporter of O.J., but is the sentence of 33yrs. in prison justice or “payback”?
This guilty verdict was thirteen years in the making, and our judicial system was vigorous in its efforts in putting Mr. Simpson behind bars. Imagine the world if we were as vigilant in capturing Bin Laden, ending poverty, illiteracy, racism, domestic and child abuse, violence, torture, curing cancer and HIV/AIDS.
Let’s be candid--O.J. did not help his cause either from writing a book about the double homicide of his wife and Ronald Goldman (that was not published because of public outrage) to what seemed like his everyday run-ins with the law. Clearly, there is plenty of blame to dole out.
In closing this sad and tragic chapter in America, O.J. Simpson finally goes to prison. It took more than ten years and millions of dollars at the expense of taxpayers. You can also be assured he’s going to do all 33 years before he tastes freedom again, but at what cost to the American Justice System? Was he guilty of his most recent crime that warranted the aforementioned length of time in prison or for being exonerated for his past transgressions?
Not only was O.J. Simpson on trial, but so was our justice system!

All I know is that in this life you reap what you sow. Everybody and there mother knows OJ killed Nicole.
Nobody from the black community gives a d@!m about OJ going to jail. You know why because he was guilty.
You state clearly that their is plenty of blame to dole out can we add you to the list of people who just don't make any sense.
Dude if you are going to talk about black men and injustice you need to talk about sombeody else. If you are are going to talk about the injustice system their is plenty to talk about but OJ are you serious.
Again I repeat nobody gives a hoot about OJ. What you don't understand was this chapter was already closed. No black leader or White for that matter is talking about OJ. May God save his soul and may you find somebody else worth talking about.
Dude if you don't start coming up with better subjects you are going to be one sad lonely blogger. I don't see to many people hitting you up and I think I know why.
Perhaps, you are
correct "Anonymous." No one cares a "hoot or d@!m" about O.J., but this was not about O.J.! This is about the American justice system doing what is "right."
If America is truly the standard with which the rest of the world is to follow...we better start making strides because we have a great deal of work ahead to do.
On another matter, this blog was not created to see how many "hits" I can get. Whether people respond or not is not the number one priority. What is important is that despite that fact that many of our so-called leaders have used our "Constitution like toilet paper," it is comforting to know that we still have managed to hold on to one of our most cherished rights...freedom of speech.
Thanks for your response.
O.J is one of a whole host of fools who continue to blatantly display a total disregard for the law. It is this arrogance that put him where he is today. It is the same arrogance that has placed so many other men in prison, which has ultimately set-up a cycle for their children to follow suit. What level of responsibility has he taken to protect his family by his idiotic tantrums. When we look at all of the fathers currently serving time in Pennsylvania prisons and abroad, what chance do many of our children have? For those of us who are home and available to our children, we have to protect them from those children who have been consumed by the anger experienced of that parent not being there. There is also the matter of so many young men being placed in adult like roles to help their siblings and that abandoned parent. There is no doubt in my mind that injustices toward people of color is out of control, but self-control is key to not having the state (Department of Corrections) control my life. I do not know about you, but just the thought of being put in prison jolts my "irrational thought party" back into reality. I like the liberties I have, regardless of what others may think of theirs. When one places themselves in situations to compromise those liberties, the law will do, what the law does best! It goes back to education being "paramount". We need to focus on the injustices that we, as a people, continue to impose upon one another by not being "our brothers/sisters keeper".....regardless of race. This is the human race!
Who ever said that the American Justice system was a standard for anything. Dude get your head out of whatever hole you have it in. If you are trying to make a statment about the justice system you really need to consentrate on a better examples than OJ. If you want to talk about the justice system then talk about it. Using OJ does nothing for your argument and I mean nothing especially when most people think he is guilty. You state "What is important is that despite that fact that many of our so-called leaders have used our "Constitution like toilet paper," it is comforting to know that we still have managed to hold on to one of our most cherished rights...freedom of speech"
So I guess you like to hear yourself talk. Because your blog is just a place to hear yourself. You are one of those people who think because you have freedom of speech it gives you the write to be un-intellegent. Listen this is the last time I will say this just because you have THE FREEDOM to write a blog does not mean you don;t need to think through your srguments. There are plenty of Black men who you could have used to support your argument. OJ makes your argument very and I do man very weak. And one more thing I understand you must feel very strongly about our constitution but your current president has proven that you can wipe your butt with itand get away with it. Money is LAW and that is precisely why OJ got off the first time.
